BOTTLING
LINES. Each line consists of
a conveyor system that moves glass bottles
through cleaning, drying, filling, labeling
and capping machines. The finished product
is then packaged manually in cartons. Each
operational bottling line has a Quality
Control Inspector who sees to it that the
highest standard for each finished product
is achieved.
AGEING
FACILITIES. To produce the highest
quality and taste of rhum, it first has
to go through an ageing process. The raw
alcohol is placed on oak barrels and patiently
stored on metal racks for a period of time.
The purpose of ageing is to modify the strong
flavor of the alcohol making it smoother
and aromatic. The alcohol reacts with the
wood, absorbing the flavor and color of
the wood itself. The company's total ageing
facilities can contain a net capacity of
approximately 20 million gauge liters or
100,000 barrels of alcohol.
STORAGE
TANKS . The plant also spaces
large storage tanks containing demineralized
water and alcohol.
OTHER
FACILITIES . These include warehouses
for empty bottles and finished products.
The main building also has an administration
office, a testing laboratory and an employee's
canteen. Electricity is provided by the
local utility, but the plant is equipped
with power generating facilities capable
of sustaining operations in case of power
outages.
